========"Celebration May Fung"========
Many regional festivals are celebrated in Baltistan, but May Fung is the most important among them.
May Fung is a purely regional ritual or festival which is celebrated every year on 20th December with great enthusiasm and devotion. It is actually a celebration of the start of the Tibetan New Year. Its importance is also doubled because from December 21, the length of the day starts to increase and the night begins to get shorter, which is no less than Eid for the people who are struggling with this freezing weather, so everyone here celebrates without any discrimination.
Although some people consider this festival as a part of the old tradition of trying to please a deity, because on this night all men, especially young people and children, burn wood as torches in bahrunkal karathas from their houses at night, according to them, in the olden days, the residents here were Buddhists. There were Buddhists who used to celebrate this festival at the beginning of the new Tibetan year to please their deity or to get blessings from him, but now there is no deity here and no Buddhists in the whole of Baltistan, so instead of attributing it to a deity. It would be appropriate to say and understand it as a regional festival because today's Baltistan, Alhamdulillah, is a region of 100% Muslims.

Centuries old Mayfang Festival being celebrated in Baltistan
In Baltistan every year on 21 December a famous culture festival celebrates on this event There is nothing illegal in this festival, but in most places, children gather at the beginning of the day and go to the door of every house in the village or neighborhood and sing prayer songs according to the number of households in a special style and ask them for wood and kindling. Others ask for unnecessary household items and the family members immediately hand over firewood etc. to these children.
The children collect all these wood and waste materials in a nearby field so that they can light a fire at night.After the evening prayer, the celebration starts. On this occasion, it is also taken into consideration that if December 20 falls on the night of the martyrdom of an innocent person, then the program of the celebration is canceled from the beginning. They light their own torches and rotate it vigorously until they run out of torchwood.
